Although it may seem very simple and smooth to the website user, but behind the scenes, a complicated series of events are taking place, ensuring that the transaction happens quickly and securely. Some of the events may seem useless and insignificant, however making a log of the transaction date and IP address, for example, may come useful if any transactions are taken to a legal scenario. This section investigates exactly what is happening behind the scenes, and how a safe and secure transaction occurs - all the while keeping the user interface as simple as possible for the customer.
